A practical guide to architectural aluminium finishes
Anodised, powder-coated, brushed and wood-effect finishes each create a different combination of appearance, durability and care.

Choose the process for the application
Anodising becomes part of the aluminium surface, while powder coating adds a cured coating in a broad colour range. Decorative brushed, steel-look and wood-effect options support specific visual directions but still need appropriate care and specification.
Approve a physical reference
Colour names and digital images are not reliable final references. Review a physical sample under relevant lighting and agree acceptable variation before ordering production quantities.
- Record colour, gloss and texture.
- Use one approved control sample.
- Keep visible batches coordinated where practical.
Design for cleaning and drainage
Even durable finishes need sensible detailing. Avoid water traps, isolate incompatible materials and establish a cleaning regime suited to the exposure and finish supplier’s recommendations.
